Baywatch Is Back: Fox Sets January 6, 2027 Premiere for the Reboot, With Stephen Amell Leading the New Crew
The countdown is officially on. Fox has announced that its Baywatch reboot will premiere on Wednesday, January 6, 2027 at 9pm ET, with episodes arriving on Hulu the next day, Just Jared reported.
A date, at last
The announcement follows the recent release of the reboot trailer, and it gives fans their first firm date for the return of one of television's most recognisable franchises. Fox picked up the series for the 2026-2027 broadcast season back in September 2025 with a 12-episode order, Just Jared reported. An open casting call followed in early 2026, and production began in Los Angeles in spring 2026.
The original Baywatch became a global phenomenon, broadcast in reportedly more than 200 countries and led by David Hasselhoff as Mitch Buchannon, The News reported. The reboot now has the job of living up to that legacy while building a new crew of its own.
Meet the new crew
Stephen Amell leads the series as Hobie Buchanan, Just Jared reported. Hobie is now a Baywatch Captain, following in the footsteps of his legendary father Mitch — until his world is turned upside down by the surprise arrival of Charlie, played by Jessica Belkin, the daughter he never knew. Charlie is eager to carry on the Buchannon family legacy and strives to become a Baywatch lifeguard alongside her dad.
The ensemble also includes Brooks Nader, Thaddeus LaGrone, Hassie Harrison, Shay Mitchell, Noah Beck and Livvy Dunne, along with several stars from the original series, Just Jared reported. The News also lists original-series star David Chokachi among the cast, plus Megan Thee Stallion.
Meanwhile, heartthrob Cody Madison now runs The Shoreline, described as the unofficially official Baywatch bar-and-grill, and still pulls on the red trunks for the occasional shift. He serves as a mentor and a friend to the new lifeguards, offering a second home — and, Just Jared noted, always offering free wings after a big save.
What to expect
Fox is directing the premiere episode with McG at the helm, The News reported, and the January launch gives the show a prime midseason slot — a vote of confidence in a reboot that has been building buzz since its trailer landed. For longtime fans, the red tower, the beach and the rescues are all back. For new viewers, the story starts with a father, a daughter he never knew, and a beach full of second chances.
