Chris Pratt has confirmed that Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, telling The Playlist's Bingeworthy podcast on Wednesday that the character's story is "far from over," People reported. The 47-year-old Guardians of the Galaxy star said Marvel Studios has already taken "hard action" to make the comeback happen — three years after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 ended with the promise that "the legendary Star-Lord will return."

What he said

"I have a great relationship with Kevin [Feige] and Lou [D'Esposito], and there have been both ongoing conversations about how we make good on that promise and also hard action taken to make sure that we make good on that promise," Pratt said, according to People and Entertainment Weekly. "So yeah, you'll see Star-Lord again, which is very exciting, but I'm not at liberty to say when that's going to be, but he's not going anywhere."

Where he could appear

Geo TV noted that Pratt is not listed among the announced stars of Avengers: Doomsday, which releases on December 18, 2026 — leaving Avengers: Secret Wars or a future Marvel project as possible landing spots. People reported that back in January, Pratt told the Happy Sad Confused podcast he had already pitched studio head Feige an idea for the character's future: "I personally have a really strong vision of what I would want him to do," he said, confirming he had brought it to Feige.

A decade of the legendary Star-Lord

Pratt first played the Walkman-loving, half-human hero in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy, which grossed nearly $800 million worldwide, Entertainment Weekly noted. He reprised the role in the 2017 and 2023 sequels, plus 2018's Avengers: Infinity War, 2019's Avengers: Endgame and Thor: Love and Thunder, Geo TV reported — a run that made Peter Quill one of the MCU's most beloved rogues.
