Christina Applegate told listeners on the 27 October episode of her "MeSsy" podcast that she will keep advocating for people with multiple sclerosis despite learning she was misdiagnosed, while describing worsening mobility that now leaves a walker beside her bed.

“I’m still your warrior”

USA TODAY reported that Applegate addressed listeners on the 27 October episode of her “MeSsy” podcast, one week after revealing that doctors had told her she was misdiagnosed with multiple sclerosis. The podcast is co-hosted by Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who has multiple sclerosis.

“Even though I don’t have this disease, I have fallen in love with everyone that we know, our listeners and our friends that have MS, and I’m still your warrior, and I’m still going to speak out on your behalf forever and ever,” Applegate said, according to USA TODAY. “I still feel like a part of this community, and no matter what, I love you.”

Getting out of bed now takes ten minutes

Applegate, 54, also described how much harder everyday movement has become. Page Six reported that she told listeners she timed herself getting out of bed on Tuesday morning.

“I actually timed it today. It took me ten minutes to be able to move off my pillow and get out of the bed and stand up,” she said, according to Page Six. She said she almost could not walk to the bathroom, and that a walker now sits next to her bed “because of what’s going on.”

“I don’t know what’s going on,” she said, according to Page Six. “This is what I am still living with.” She added that she had never had mobility problems this bad before and had always previously been able to sit up on her own.

USA TODAY reported that Applegate said things are getting worse with her symptoms and mobility, and that she has recently lost “too much” weight. “It took 10 minutes just to sit my head up, just to move without excruciating pain and weakness,” she said, according to Page Six.

Back at square one

Applegate first revealed that she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2021, USA TODAY reported.

On the 20 October episode of the podcast, she recalled her doctor telling her, “Congratulations, you don’t have MS,” Page Six reported. Applegate said at the time that she was not happy about the news, because her symptoms had not gone away.

IANS quoted her on the latest episode saying: “This may come as great news, but to me, I’m back at square one. You don’t get misdiagnosed and then all of the sudden I’m better. I haven’t gotten better. If anything, I’ve gotten worse in some ways.”
