Dune: Part Three Final Trailer Arrives as Paul Atreides Faces a Growing Rebellion

Warner Bros. Pictures released the final trailer for Dune: Part Three on Tuesday, 27 October 2026, Just Jared reported, giving audiences their fullest look yet at the conclusion of director Denis Villeneuve’s trilogy. The film opens in theatres and IMAX on 18 December 2026, with international screenings beginning on 16 December, Just Jared reported.
An emperor under threat
The third film takes place nearly two decades after Paul Atreides, played by Timothée Chalamet, seized control of the Imperium, Just Jared reported. Now ruling as Emperor, Paul must deal with the consequences of his reign as old allies return, new enemies emerge and a conspiracy threatens his hold on power.
The story also follows his complicated relationship with Chani, played by Zendaya, who finds herself at the centre of the growing conflict, according to Just Jared. Radio Times reported that the trailer gives a first look at Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Ida Brooke as Paul and Chani’s twin children, Leto II and Ghanima, alongside political scheming, warfare and the series’ vast sandworms.
Pattinson joins as Scytale
Robert Pattinson joins the franchise as Scytale, described by Just Jared as the villain plotting against Paul’s rule. Returning cast members include Jason Momoa, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Anya Taylor-Joy and Charlotte Rampling, Just Jared reported, with Taylor-Joy returning as Paul’s sister Alia, according to Radio Times.
The film is based on Frank Herbert’s novels, with Villeneuve directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Brian K. Vaughan, Just Jared reported. Radio Times noted that the film draws on the second novel in Herbert’s series, Dune Messiah.
The December countdown
India TV News reported that the trailer arrived within hours of heavy online attention and that the film will clash in December with Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday. The final trailer, new character posters and the December release date together mark the last major marketing push before audiences return to Arrakis.
For Chalamet and Zendaya, the trailer closes a trilogy that began with Dune in 2021. For Villeneuve, it is the final chapter of a story about power, prophecy and the price of both, told on the largest canvas the series has attempted.
