Mohanlal and Manju Warrier to Light Up Dubai with 'Hala Mohanlal' on UAE National Day

Dubai is set to celebrate one of Indian cinema's greatest icons with a star-studded show on UAE National Day. Mohanlal, 66, and Manju Warrier will lead 'Hala Mohanlal' on December 2 — a large-scale celebration expected to bring together fans and entertainment personalities for a night of music, laughter and performances, Gulf News reported.
A five-decade legacy
Mohanlal has enjoyed a career spanning more than five decades, with hundreds of acting credits across Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi cinema, the outlet noted. He made his acting debut in 1978 and went on to become one of Indian cinema's most acclaimed performers, known for films including Kireedam, Bharatham, Vanaprastham, Drishyam and Lucifer.
His honours include the Padma Shri and Padma Vibhushan, as well as multiple National Film Awards and Kerala State Film Awards. In 2025, he was named the recipient of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India's highest honour in cinema, recognising his outstanding contribution to Indian film, Gulf News reported.
A UAE National Day celebration
For the large Malayali community in the UAE, the December 2 show offers a chance to celebrate the actor's legacy during the National Day holiday, with performances designed for audiences of all ages, the outlet reported.
The December date places the event squarely in the UAE's peak entertainment season, when Dubai's concert calendar draws thousands of South Asian expats — the audience that has kept Malayalam cinema thriving far beyond Kerala.
The Gulf's Bollywood-south connection
The announcement adds to a packed run of Indian cinema events in the Gulf this winter, including the IIFA 2027 awards in Abu Dhabi's Etihad Arena — underscoring how the region has become one of the biggest stages for Indian film celebrations anywhere in the world.
More details on the venue, tickets and supporting acts are expected in the coming weeks.
For the UAE's huge Malayali diaspora, a Mohanlal show on National Day is the biggest kind of homecoming celebration — and if past events are any guide, tickets will move fast once they go on sale.
