Jon Lovitz has answered Crystal Hefner’s Playboy Mansion claims with a shrug. Asked about them as he left a restaurant on Tuesday night, the comedian treated the label she gave him as a compliment, Page Six reported.

What Crystal Hefner said

Hefner, the widow of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, described Lovitz as “one of the biggest pervs” in Hollywood during Tuesday’s episode of the Lisa Guerrero Unleashed podcast, Page Six reported. She said the Saturday Night Live alumnus was the Playboy Mansion’s “No. 1 customer,” the outlet reported.

“He would be up there all the time,” Hefner said of Lovitz at the mansion, according to Page Six. “His eyes would go front to back [looking at] all the women that walked through the door at the party.” She also called the 69-year-old a “lurker” whose dog “peed all over the place,” the outlet reported, adding: “I remember him. Every time, every party.”

Entertainment Weekly and JustJared also reported Hefner’s remarks. The claims are Hefner’s account; Lovitz has not accepted her characterisation of him.

Lovitz responds

Page Six obtained video of Lovitz leaving dinner in Los Angeles on Tuesday night. “Any time someone says I’m No. 1, it’s a compliment,” he said, according to the outlet, when asked what he thought of Hefner’s claim.

When asked whether he had “lurked around” the mansion, Lovitz shrugged off the claim, Page Six reported. He closed by praising the late Hugh Hefner: “Hugh Hefner was one of the nicest, most generous people I’ve ever met and all of his friends know it. That’s all I have to say about that.”

A dispute that began in July

The podcast remarks followed a public exchange in July, Page Six reported. Hefner had posted an Instagram video about her “regrets” over marrying Hugh Hefner, and Lovitz criticised her in the comments, the outlet reported.

“Do you regret the house he bought for you to live in, after his death? And keeping the money, after you sold it? And all the times your mother was at the mansion?” Lovitz wrote, according to Page Six and JustJared. “And do you regret all he did for you? And do you regret leaving him and then coming back to marry him?”

Hefner later told the Daily Mail that Lovitz was the mansion’s “biggest customer,” Page Six reported, adding that she had “no ill will” towards him but was disappointed by his criticism.

The background

Crystal Hefner and Hugh Hefner married in 2012, when she was 26 and he was 86, Page Six reported, and remained together until his death in 2017 at 91.
