Lewis Hamilton has revealed the sweetest detail yet about his life away from Formula 1: he is the reason a golden retriever puppy named Halo now runs around Kim Kardashian’s house.

The seven-time world champion opened up while speaking on the Fan Zone stage at the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, this weekend, where he was asked what brings him joy outside racing. His answer turned quickly to Kardashian’s four children, and to the newest member of their family.

“My girlfriend’s kids, I love spending time with them. She’s got four, so I’m getting to play with these kids,” Hamilton said, according to reports of the appearance carried by TMZ and JustJared. Then came the reveal: “I got them a dog this year. Halo is a new member of that family.”

A puppy fans had already spotted

Sharp-eyed followers may have already met Halo. The golden retriever puppy has appeared on both Hamilton’s and Kardashian’s social media accounts in recent months, TMZ reported. Kardashian shared pictures of herself with the puppy during a lakeside getaway, while Hamilton has posted photos of Halo growing up and exploring.

Until now, though, neither had publicly said where the puppy came from. Hamilton’s Austin remarks connect the dots: the dog was his gift to Kardashian’s children, North, 13, Saint, 10, Chicago, 8, and Psalm, 7, whom she shares with ex-husband Kanye West.

A new chapter after Roscoe

The arrival of Halo also marks a tender new chapter for Hamilton himself. His beloved English bulldog Roscoe died last year, and in late September he marked the one-year anniversary of that loss with an emotional post, writing that being without his best friend had been hard and that not a day went by without wishing he were still there.

For a driver known for his focus on the track, the puppy story offered a rare, relaxed glimpse of home life — and of a relationship the couple have largely kept out of the spotlight. Kardashian has preferred to keep details of the romance private, while the pair have been spotted together on trips to Tokyo, a Fourth of July lake house stay and Hawaii, and she has supported him at race weekends including Monaco and Singapore.

Why fans loved the moment

It is easy to see why the clip travelled so fast. Hamilton did not announce a project or tease a race result; he simply talked about what makes him happy, and the answer turned out to be four children and a puppy called Halo. For fans, it was a reminder that even the fastest man in motorsport slows down for the small, ordinary joys.
