Meghan to Join Junior MasterChef Australia for 2027 Return
Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, will join Poh Ling Yeow on Junior MasterChef Australia when the show returns in 2027, Network 10 has announced, following her guest-judge appearance on MasterChef Australia earlier this year.
Announced for the 2027 return
Channel 10 said on Instagram that Junior MasterChef Australia would return in 2027, hosted by Poh Ling Yeow and joined by Meghan, Reuters reported on Tuesday. PEOPLE, citing the show’s press release, reported that Yeow and Meghan would together “help guide the next generation of young culinary talent.” The show is returning to Network 10 six years after its last season, according to Australian trade publication B&T. Representatives for Meghan confirmed her involvement, while the details of her exact role were not spelled out, The Times reported.
In a statement quoted by AFP and PEOPLE, Meghan said: “I had an incredible time with the whole team at MasterChef this past April, so when they approached me to come back and work with this young group of talent, it was an easy yes.” She added: “I love cooking with my own kids, so seeing what these young stars create in the kitchen is going to be a lot of fun. I can’t wait to see what they cook up!”
A warm welcome back from Yeow
Yeow said she was “thrilled to bits” about the show’s return, PEOPLE reported. She recalled having a “lovely time filming with Meghan earlier this year” and said she expected “plenty of delicious surprises and a little mischief, too,” according to PEOPLE’s report of the announcement.
Her April appearance
Meghan appeared as a guest judge on MasterChef Australia in April 2026, mentoring cooks alongside Yeow, Sofia Levin and Jean-Christophe Novelli, PEOPLE reported. B&T reported that her visit drew the programme’s largest Sunday audience since 2023, according to the network. Her arrival had been kept secret to surprise the contestants, PEOPLE reported.
Food has long featured in Meghan’s screen work. She guest-judged on the US series Chopped Junior in 2016, and cooking, entertaining and home life are at the centre of her Netflix series With Love, Meghan, PEOPLE noted.
Filming expected in Melbourne
Filming was expected to take place in Melbourne early to mid-next year, News.com.au reported, as cited by Reuters. The Times reported that filming was said to be planned for Melbourne and could involve several weeks in Australia. No air date beyond 2027 has been announced in the reports so far.
