At 59, Nicole Kidman Is Having Her Boldest Run Yet

Page Six is calling it the Nicole-assance, and the evidence is hard to argue with. At 59, Nicole Kidman is not slowing down — she is starring in hit television, filming a new thriller, returning to an HBO favourite and fronting Chanel, all at once.
Kidman stars in the third season of Taylor Sheridan's Paramount+ hit Lioness, is filming a new thriller titled Discretion, and will return to HBO's Nine Perfect Strangers. She is also the face of Chanel, a partnership she showcased in Paris earlier this month alongside her youngest daughter, Faith Margaret.
The Page Six report also captures a frustration Kidman is said to feel about her latest film. Practical Magic 2, her reunion with Sandra Bullock, opened at a reported $30 million, and a source told the outlet the trade press was harsh on it — while Brad Pitt's Heart of the Beast, which opened at a reported $20 million, was celebrated. Totals have since flipped ($156 million versus $105 million worldwide), but the source's point, as reported, is that Hollywood still struggles to take women-fronted projects and female audiences seriously.
That argument is one Kidman has backed with her choices for years. At Cannes in 2017 she pledged to work with a female director at least once every 18 months, and Page Six reports she went far beyond that, collaborating with 19 female filmmakers over eight years — 67 collaborations with women directors in all, across television, film and shorts, as actor, producer or executive producer, insiders told the outlet.
Her frequent collaborator Susanne Bier, who directed Practical Magic 2, summed up her appeal to British Vogue, calling Kidman “the ultimate seducer” with, in words quoted by Page Six, “an incredibly enticing energy, where you get very willingly drawn into her sphere.” Even a hit song bears her name: Adéla's “Nicole Kidman”, released in September, went viral and reached the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 and number one on US Spotify.
The workload has not eased. Kidman has filmed a second season of her Amazon Prime show Scarpetta and is set to return for a fourth season of Lioness. The Oscar winner, who took Best Actress in 2003 for The Hours, is doing all of this after her split from country star Keith Urban after 19 years of marriage; Page Six reports she filed for divorce in September 2025, that it was finalised this past January, with sole custody of daughters Sunday Rose, 18, and Faith Margaret, 15. Friends told the outlet she remains resilient, her home base Nashville and her family her priority. If this is what a renaissance looks like at 59, it is built on work, not nostalgia.
