Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato have reunited for a Rare Beauty campaign that celebrates a friendship stretching back nearly 25 years. The campaign, titled “Still Making Each Other Blush,” was announced on Wednesday, 28 October, PEOPLE reported.

Shortly after the announcement, the two former Disney Channel stars shared a nostalgic YouTube video reflecting on their friendship, PEOPLE reported. They answered fan questions, danced around a bedroom and revisited old pictures together.

When asked about a favourite song at the moment, Lovato chose a classic from their shared past. “I think I have to go classic and say ‘One and the Same,’” Lovato, 34, said, before the pair played the song and sang along together, according to PEOPLE. Gomez, also 34, recalled how it felt to record the track. “I felt like that was our moment when we felt like Avril Lavigne. We were so into it,” Gomez said. Lovato added: “And Kelly Clarkson. Always Kelly Clarkson.”

A bundle named for the fans

The campaign introduced the Delena Soft Pinch Blush Bundle, named after the nickname fans gave Gomez and Lovato during their Disney Channel days, PEOPLE reported.

Both stars spoke about that history in statements released with the campaign. Lovato said in a press release quoted by PEOPLE: “Selena and I have shared a lot of memories over the years since childhood, so being able to connect in this way, in a campaign that feels so nostalgic to both of us, is such a full-circle moment.” Lovato added that she had loved Gomez’s liquid blush since the brand launched, and that being on set together felt like being “back in our old bedrooms making YouTube videos and playing with makeup”.

Gomez, the founder of Rare Beauty and star of Only Murders in the Building, said in a press release quoted by PEOPLE: “The experiences I’ve shared with Demi are truly unique. Coming together for this campaign was a beautiful reminder of that history and a chance to celebrate who we are today. One and the same….always.”

Why the reunion struck a chord

Reunions between former child stars often invite curiosity, but this one landed because the campaign leaned into the friendship itself. The video, the song choice and the bundle name all pointed back to the same idea: two people who grew up in public, still close, and comfortable laughing at their younger selves together.
