Shaan surprised fans in Dubai by stepping into Michael Jackson's world, performing the pop legend's hit “Billie Jean” and recreating some of his most famous dance moves on stage at the Coca-Cola Arena during his “All of Me Tour”, Gulf News reported.

A different side of the singer

Shaan is best known for romantic Hindi songs, Gulf News noted, and the tribute showed a different side of his live performance. According to ANI, the singer showed a completely different side of his performance at the Dubai arena, taking on an English pop classic rather than staying with the familiar Hindi hits that built his name.

Videos from the concert have since gained attention on social media, Gulf News reported, with fans praising his energetic stage presence. ANI likewise reported that videos from the concert have gone viral, with fans praising his singing and dance moves.

The moves that made the moment

According to both outlets, Shaan performed “Billie Jean” and recreated Jackson's signature moves, including the moonwalk. Gulf News described sharp dance steps and signature hat moves alongside the famous moonwalk, while ANI reported the same combination: the moonwalk, sharp dance steps and Jackson's famous hat moves.

The performance, both reports said, left fans surprised to see Shaan take on the pop icon's style. For an audience that knows him primarily through ballads and Bollywood numbers, Gulf News wrote, the Dubai concert offered a glimpse of that versatility.

Why it landed with fans

The reaction online was warm and nostalgic, according to both reports. Gulf News said the unexpected performance prompted nostalgic reactions from fans who have followed Shaan's career over the years, and quoted one fan who shared a video of the Dubai concert on X and recalled a teenage crush on the singer, writing: “Yooo this instantly transported me to my early teens when I had a raging crush on Shaan… turns out I still do!” ANI reported the same fan reaction.

Jackson, who died in 2009, remains one of pop music's most influential figures, Gulf News noted, remembered for hits including “Billie Jean”, “Thriller” and “Beat It”, as well as his distinctive choreography.

A career built on range

Shaan, whose real name is Shantanu Mukherjee, has built a career spanning several decades in Indian film music, Gulf News reported, with popular songs including “Tanha Dil”, “Woh Pehli Baar”, “Chand Sifarish”, “Jab Se Tere Naina” and “Behti Hawa Sa Tha Woh”.

In Dubai, that range took an unexpected turn: a Hindi playback singer, an English pop classic, and a dance routine the whole audience recognised in an instant.
