India's T20 batting star Suryakumar Yadav is now a Dubai homeowner. The cricketer and his wife Devisha Shetty have purchased their first home in the emirate at Shahrukhz by Danube — the luxury waterfront project associated with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan — Yadav announced on Instagram, with the news reported by NDTV, NDTV Profit and ET Now.

The announcement

Yadav announced the investment in a video shared on Instagram featuring his wife and Danube Properties founder and chairman Rizwan Sajan. "I am thrilled to share that I've invested in Shahrukhz Residences by Danube," the Indian batter wrote in the post, according to NDTV Profit. In the video, the Mumbai-born cricketer recalled his long association with the city: "I came here for the first time to play in the IPL, and then we came in 2020. And now, one can see that all of India is coming to Dubai."

Why Dubai

The cricketer praised Dubai's lifestyle, infrastructure and the sense of security he experiences on his visits to the UAE. "It feels really relaxed, and I feel happy when I come here," Yadav said, according to NDTV Profit. ABP Live reports that the video also captured a lighthearted exchange between the couple as he signed the documents, with Devisha remarking that he had made the right decision by buying the Dubai property on her suggestion. The price of the Yadavs' own unit has not been publicly disclosed.

The project

Shahrukhz by Danube sits in Dubai Maritime City as a 56-storey development offering luxury residences and penthouses with more than 40 lifestyle amenities, according to NDTV Profit. Wellness is a major theme: the development will offer specialised services including hyperbaric therapy, cryotherapy and red-light therapy, and a Longevity Lounge focused on recovery and rejuvenation. The project was launched in November 2025 and has drawn attention for its upscale residential offering and its Bollywood connection.

The Khan connection

The Bollywood link runs deep. The project carries Shah Rukh Khan's name, and his wife, interior designer Gauri Khan, is designing the penthouses. In an Instagram post revealing her work, she said: "We wanted to bring the feeling of living in a mansion into an apartment, without compromising on luxury, comfort, or practicality," according to NDTV. The penthouses incorporate bespoke Italian-branded furniture, waterfront views and spacious layouts.

Why it matters

As ET Now notes, Dubai continues to attract Indian buyers, and Yadav's purchase adds another celebrity name to the growing list of Indian stars investing in the emirate's luxury real estate market. The former world No. 1 T20I batter and member of India's 2024 T20 World Cup-winning squad joins a long line of cricketers and Bollywood figures making Dubai their second home.
