Sir Tom Jones Postpones Los Angeles and San Diego Shows After Bad Case of Flu

Sir Tom Jones has postponed two California concerts after coming down with a bad case of flu, telling fans on Instagram on Monday that, following doctors' advice, he would have to reschedule his Los Angeles show that night and his San Diego show the next day.
Hours before showtime in Los Angeles
The announcement came just hours before Jones was due on stage at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on Monday evening, the New York Post reported. In his Instagram post, Jones wrote: “I've had a great time these last few weeks, completing 20 shows and singing for wonderful audiences across the USA, but unexpectedly I've been hit with a bad case of the flu.” The Los Angeles concert had been scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Greek Theatre, according to the New York Post.
Jones added: “Following doctor's advice, I unfortunately have to reschedule tonight's show in Los Angeles and tomorrow's show in San Diego.” He closed the message with an apology, writing: “I'm truly sorry for any inconvenience caused. I look forward to seeing you all soon.” Parade reported that fans quickly filled the comments on his post with messages wishing him a speedy recovery.
New dates in November
Both shows already have new dates. The San Diego concert at the Rady Shell at Jacobs Park has been moved to Tuesday, 3 November, and the Los Angeles show at the Greek Theatre will now take place on Wednesday, 4 November, MyNewsLA and the New York Post reported. Tickets for the original dates will remain valid for the rescheduled shows, and fans who cannot attend the new dates are advised to contact their original point of purchase for a refund, according to the announcement reported by MyNewsLA.
The rescheduled Los Angeles date will now close the tour's current run. MyNewsLA reported that the Come Gather Round tour had been scheduled to end on 1 November in San Francisco, and that the Los Angeles concert on 4 November will now be the final date.
A tour two dozen shows in
Jones was in the middle of a long run of American dates when he fell ill. The North American leg of the Come Gather Round tour launched on 18 September in Highland Park, Illinois, the New York Post reported, after Jones kicked off the worldwide tour in England in June. By the time of Monday's announcement, he had completed 20 shows in the United States, in his own words.
The 86-year-old Welsh singer, best known for hits including “It's Not Unusual,” “She's a Lady,” “Sex Bomb” and “Delilah,” was knighted by the late Queen Elizabeth II in 2006, the New York Post noted.
