Zendaya Cheers On the Valkyries at WNBA Finals Game 5 in Hometown Return

Zendaya joined a star-filled crowd at Chase Center on Monday night, cheering the Golden State Valkyries to a 64-55 win over the Atlanta Dream in Game 5 of the WNBA Finals — a hometown appearance, in a purple team shirt, that the league itself celebrated online.
A hometown night at Chase Center
Zendaya was in the stands for Game 5 of the WNBA Finals on Monday night, ClutchPoints reported, as the Golden State Valkyries faced the Atlanta Dream at Chase Center in San Francisco. The league itself confirmed her attendance, posting on its official feed: “We've got Zendaya in the house for Game 5 of the #2026WNBAFinals!”
The appearance carried a hometown flavour. ClutchPoints reported that a fan noted Zendaya is from Oakland, in the Bay Area, and described her presence as a hometown fan showing up rather than a passing celebrity sighting. The Valkyries gave the home crowd plenty to cheer: they beat the Dream 64-55 to take a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven Finals series.
Thundersticks, the jumbotron and famous faces
According to ClutchPoints, Zendaya wore a purple Valkyries game T-shirt and sported a new pixie cut for the occasion. JustJared reported that she was seen holding up one of the inflatable thundersticks handed out in the arena and cheering for the home team, and that she was shown on the venue's big screen during the game, to excitement from spectators around her.
She was not the only well-known face in the building. ClutchPoints reported that former soccer star Megan Rapinoe, rapper E-40 and former WNBA players Ruthie Bolton and Candace Parker were also spotted in the crowd, while JustJared also named basketball player Chris Paul among those in attendance.
A busy run of public appearances
The Finals outing followed another family-focused appearance days earlier. ClutchPoints reported that on 23 October, Zendaya attended a high school football game in Folsom, California, to support her nephew, senior linebacker EJ Coleman, on Senior Night.
JustJared noted that Zendaya has had a busy year on screen, with projects including The Odyssey, The Drama and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and is preparing for the release of Dune: Part Three. For one night in San Francisco, though, the story was simpler: a hometown star in the stands, cheering her team to within one win of a championship. Game 6 is scheduled for Thursday, 29 October, at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, ClutchPoints reported.
